Interventions targeting the reduction of workplace sedentary time: An evidence review.
For many Australian workers, sedentary time (sitting) is ubiquitous in their occupational environment. Addressing prolonged sitting in the workplace to reduce overweight and obesity and risk of major chronic diseases is a new public health and occupational health concern. It has been proposed that workplace innovations should be considered to support organisations and individuals to introduce sustainable strategies for substituting sedentary time with standing/incidental physical activity during the work day. This presentation will present the findings from a recent evidence review of the Australian and international literature on workplace innovations and strategies to reduce sedentary time at the organisational and systems levels.
